Founded on a deep love for marine life and conservation, Joyce Aquapets is dedicated to providing high-quality, captive-bred clownfish and state-of-the-art 35-litre Clownfish Ecoriums - innovative, ultra-low-maintenance aquariums that require zero water changes. Each Ecorium features a built-in algae scrubber and a seven-layer, six-inch Deep Substrate Sand Bed (DSSB), creating a self-sustaining ecosystem that naturally balances water quality. Every system is cycled for 30 days to ensure biological stability and long-term success from day one. Our mission is simple - to make marine fishkeeping simple, sustainable, and stunning, allowing anyone to enjoy the beauty of the ocean with minimal effort and maximum harmony.
Sustainable Aquaculture, Naturally
At Joyce Aquapets, sustainability isn’t just a promise - it’s the foundation of everything we do. Our aquaculture facility in Ireland operates a 650-litre L-Type live culture system for rotifers, brine shrimp, and copepods, ensuring every clownfish we raise receives the healthiest and most nutritious start possible. All rotifers are enriched for eight hours before being fed to the clownfish fry, providing optimal nutrition during their most critical growth stage until metamorphosis. By focusing exclusively on captive-bred, hand-reared livestock, we help protect wild reefs while producing fish that are hardy, vibrant, and perfectly suited for both home and commercial aquariums.
All our holding tanks and broodstock systems run on recirculating filtration using natural Irish seawater. Nutrient export is achieved through a combination of deep sand beds, live reef rock, and a large algae scrubber, maintaining pristine, stable water quality that mirrors the ocean’s natural balance. Although we have oversized protein skimmers and UV filters, we seldom rely on them - as excessive skimming or UV exposure can harm beneficial amphipods, copepods, and bacteria essential for a thriving ecosystem.
